Nexteer Automotive is looking for system engineers with a diverse skill set who enjoy developing & integrating EPS systems. The primary focus of this position is to lead the elicitation of requirements and collaborate with the organization to have them understood, developed & integrated into the design. The System Integration Engineer will lead the product development teams to ensure the system is successfully integrated into the vehicle while exceeding the customer’s expectation. The ideal candidate would enjoy vehicle calibration & algorithm development that improves the overall driving experience. This candidate would also enjoy working within a team orientated environment and being provided the challenge of troubleshooting complex Mechatronic Systems.

This position offers the potential opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement. Please note, arrangements could change based on the company's COVID-19 protocols at the time of hire.

In this role you will:

  • Own the integration of mechanical, electrical hardware, software, and controls of the Electronic Power Steering System into the vehicle
  • Have opportunities to support the development of our products from pursuit of business through product launch and current production
  • Be exposed to a rapidly changing business environment and be a focal point of our effort to develop solutions to grow within that environment
  • Lead technical discussions with a customer regarding a new requirement or the status of a validation test
  • Support algorithm development specific to customer requirements.
  • Supporting system level HIL testing to establish performance criteria prior to vehicle integration
  • Work with program management on impact assessment of change requests

Job Requirements:

  • Experience performing engineering calculations using Matlab/Simulink and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to work with people
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques (ie. Shainin Red X, DFSS)
  • Enjoy driving and evaluating vehicles
  • Good organization and documentation abilities
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle and possess a valid driver license
  • Must be able to make quick physical maneuvers while driving

Preferred experience:

  • Have a fundamental understanding of the engineering V model
  • Software programming experience using C, C# and Visual Basic
  • Model based design experience using Simulink
  • Fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics, mechanical systems, electronic systems, and computer hardware and software
  • Background in automotive engineering and chassis systems (steering, braking, suspension)
  • Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis, and verification techniques
  • Familiarity with PDP and other project management processes

Educational Requirements:

  • Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Physics Engineering
  • Preferred – Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
