Supplier Quality Engineer – Integrated Circuits

Due to Nexteers Accelerated growth, we are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer who can hit the ground running. We are looking for an individual who has experience with Integrated Circuits such as Micro Processors, Micro Controllers, Discrete IC’s and passive components. This position is responsible for enablement of advanced silicon technologies in our most advances electrical power steering applications and our future autonomous steering applications. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience and strong problem solving capabilities. This position requires a candidate who has a high level of energy, commitment to quality, and excellent communication skills. Technical aptitude in the processing of silicon devices is required. International and domestic travel should be expected in order to be on-site at the supply base up to a max. of 15%.

Frequent interaction will be required with Nexteer personnel and sites in Queretaro, Mexico - Tychy, Poland – Suzhou, China and supplier sites globally.

This position will be located in Saginaw, Michigan.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advanced Quality Engineering responsibility for New Product Introduction (NPI ) and Supplier Quality Engineering responsibility for current production.
  • Plan, implement and support manufacturing capability assessments of potential new global suppliers and strategic sub-suppliers of electronic components. Involve regional resources as appropriate.
  • Perform technical review and audit of supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems, and monitor supplier improvements and corrective actions.
  • Ensure suppliers conform to AEC Q-XXX part qualification procedures and process requirements.
  • Support the PCN / change management process for silicon components.
  • Provide active participation and cooperation with engineering concerning product development strategies and implementation.
  • Engage with multinational suppliers and various levels of management to coordinate/implement effective and timely resolution to quality issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

DEGREE: Bachelor MAJOR: Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)

  • Three (3) years quality experience. Preferred
  • Familiar with Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) processes – Surface Mount Technologies (SMT), Wave solder processes, conformal coating, Familiar with in-Circuit and Final electrical function test, x-ray inspection and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI). Preferred
  • Experience in Electronics and Electrical components manufacturing of MCU’s, Discrete ICs, and FETs. Preferred
  • Experience in problem solving methodologies – Shainin Red X or Six Sigma. Certification Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and apply sound technical judgment to develop possible solutions.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations and instruct others in new techniques.
  • High level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of problems which are unique and diverse.
  • Self-Motivated and able to work in a geographically dispersed team.
  • Highly proficient in desktop computer skills
