Job Description

Reporting to a Senior Product Manager on the team, the Product Manager is responsible for determining and measuring the outcomes that will support the business success of our video management solution (VMS). This position typically involves working closely with engineering to ensure that development is focused on delivering value to the market and on achieving business goals. This role also works closely with other product managers in the organization to ensure the delivery of a compelling and cohesive Avigilon end-to-end solution. For this particular position, we’re looking for a talented product manager who will ensure integrations of the VMS with cameras (including those sold by other vendors), other devices, and 3rd party software solutions are easy to buy, install and maintain.

Responsibilities include:


  • Being the voice of the market and customer within the organization.

  • Ensuring internal stakeholders clearly understand product requirements through clear elaboration of the customer problems to be solved, use cases being addressed, and documentation of the results expected.

  • Deeply understanding the competitive environment and our product competitive position.

Product roadmap

  • Establishing clear product vision – the who, what, why, where, and when (but not the how) and champion that within the organization and ensure all project decisions are consistent with that vision.

  • Development and maintenance of the business case for each project including revenue projections and project ROI.

Product Lifecycle

  • Managing a product through the entire product life cycle from initial concept, launch, maintenance and product end-of-life.

  • Continually monitor product performance and take action accordingly.

  • Guide product introduction to ensure impactful and effective product launches.

  • Provide input to product pricing strategy and product pricing.

  • Maintain product pricelist.

Sales Support

  • In collaboration with Product Marketing, ensure sales tools and technical collateral are sufficient to enable the channel to successfully position the product.

  • Assist sales and technical support in finding answers to questions about the product and how it should be positioned to address specific customer problems.

Partner Relationship Management

  • Act as a liaison with 3rd party companies and representatives to build and maintain strategic relationships.
  • Work with strategic technology partners to identify and prioritize improvements required to any integrations between Avigilon and 3rd party products.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Software Engineering or Computer Science fields preferred)

  • Exceptional critical thinker, decisive, ability to anticipate market trends, evaluate trade-offs and risk in a manner that results in a well thought out strategy.

  • Technically competent in the relevant product domain. Prior product experience with video security applications and/or ONVIF considered a strong asset

  • Strong analytical skills are required.

  • Strong oral communication skills. Able to effectively present ideas, roadmap elements, status updates and/or proposals to upper levels of management, including non-technical staff.

  • Exceptional written communication skills in support of vision, market, business and functional requirements.

  • Exceptional relationship skills that support strong sustained interaction both externally (with customers, prospects, and vendors) as well as internally (with sales, marketing, and the engineering organization).

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment

  • Applicants need to be able to travel domestically and internationally, about 10% to 20% (5 - 8 trips / year)
