The Compliance Office Privacy Risk (COPR) team is seeking a Privacy Compliance Governance Manager with a passion for mitigating privacy risk at a technologically-focused financial institution. The Privacy Compliance Governance Manager will perform key privacy compliance activities, helping to manage privacy risk across the company.
A Privacy Compliance Governance Manager is a highly motivated professional with excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. A successful candidate in this role will possess a foundation of knowledge about risk management, financial services, laws and regulations, and risk appetite.
We are looking for an individual who is collaborative, inquisitive, and enthusiastic about privacy and technology. You will need strong analytical and organizational skills, great judgment, and the ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment with complex issues that may arise. We are looking for someone with an ownership mentality who also enjoys being part of a team and who can interact with and influence others across departments and job levels.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate, manage and drive specific COPR projects to completion;
Collaborate across Risk Management, building connections with reporting and risk assessment teams. Review, and lead reporting for COPR, including monthly and quarterly deliverables to leadership;
Assist in capturing, maintaining, and analyzing compliance data to support advising on risk and adherence to our compliance management program;
Stay abreast of the changing, privacy regulatory environment and understand the impacts to Capital One;
Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and supervisory guidance, such as FCRA, FACTA, TCPA, HIPAA, CAN-SPAM, GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, and FFIEC guidance; keeping up with and advising the business on current and emerging developments;
Ensure COPR compliance advisors are aware of the current open regulatory changes and tasks. Lead and engage in regulatory change projects;
Actively participate on complex projects by providing guidance, advice, and effective challenge;
Draft, update, and maintain privacy policies, standards, procedures, and training materials;
Facilitate and respond to exams related to privacy. This includes internal and external requests; and
Develop metrics for understanding privacy risk across the company and participate in reporting activities used by Senior Leadership.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Strong project management, process management, and organizational skills;
A proven track record of supporting and working across business lines and functions and with a senior management team;
The ability to navigate “white space” or ambiguous situations to drive and execute an agenda in a fluid environment;
Solid teamwork skills; ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team;
A focus on quality, timeliness, and accurate reporting delivery
both detailed-oriented and strategic, while managing delivery within tight timelines
A strong reporting background, data visualization, and executive communication
A successful track record of thriving in both a highly regulated industry and a fast paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment;
Ability to balance operating independently with appropriate escalation and interaction with senior leadership;
A collaborative, energetic, solution-oriented, and innovative leadership style;
An understanding of key regulatory and audit requirements and three lines of defense risk management framework.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 3 years of compliance, or risk management, or legal, or regulatory examiner, or audit experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s or Juris Doctor degree
At least 6 years of compliance, risk management, legal, regulatory examiner, or audit experience
Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Risk Professional (CRP), or CIPP (Certified International Privacy Professional)
