Note: Will consider remote candidates, position requires 50% travel to various locations and Hershey, PA as needed.

The QRC Director will report to the VP Global Quality Regulatory Food Safety and is responsible for setting and executing Hershey and Amplify food safety and quality strategies, standards, and metrics, including program development, deployment, execution, and oversight, across internal and external manufacturing and distribution. This role provides insight and guidance to executive leadership on all QRC topics and technical issues, while serving as a QRC steward / expert / advocate / liaison across Hershey’s/Amplify landscape. This candidate will lead a team of Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory professionals responsible for day-to-day manufacturing operations and continued enhancements QRC programs. This position will actively participate as a key member of the Amplify Business Leadership Team to provide technical leadership and insights/guidance/expertise across the brands. 8-10 years of Baking/Snacking/Extrusion experience is required.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Summary of major duties:

Responsible for execution of food safety and quality programs in an evolving regulatory climate:
Oversees the development and execution of food safety and quality programs used to ensure safe and efficient manufacture of products in Amplify/Hershey’s manufacturing facilities and external contract manufacturing partners.
Oversees quality and food safety auditing and third-party certification requirements for manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and external contract manufacturing partners and suppliers.
Leads the development and execution of regulatory programs and requirements for all Amplify
Develop and deploy business relevant QRC metrics / dashboards.
Leads QRC strategy, training, and advocacy for Amplify Food Safety Culture.

Responsible to help coordinate crisis management related to product recalls and withdrawals. Serves as technical SME on root cause analysis, incident investigation, and reliability improvement. Leverages cross-functional influence to assist operations with complex incident remediation.

Supports Amplify risk assessment and value case for mergers and acquisitions. Amplify business partner and food safety lead (projects, initiatives for example)

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

Expert knowledge in food safety, quality, and food regulations
Requires 8-10 years of baking, snack, flour, manufacturing experience
Senior level knowledge of Food Quality and Food Safety principles, including GFSI standards
24/7 availability for incident management
Approximately 50% travel

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or related field is required but master’s degree or higher is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years broad based quality assurance related experience in the CPG industry. Food industry experience, especially snack food, is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years strategic and tactical experience as a manager and/or director successfully developing and executing programs, policies, and procedures with interaction across internal functions, with regulatory agencies and major trade organizations.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
Proven Crisis Management leadership skills is required
Successful application of problem solving and variation reduction techniques such as Statistical Process Control or other to assure product/process consistency.
Proven record of improving quality related KPI
Strong business acumen and collaborative mindset
