The Billing Manager role is a mission critical role that directly impacts customer satisfaction by providing an effortless experience to both internal stakeholders and external customers. The role will manage and review both customer and internal service orders to ensure complete and timely setup through to an accurate invoice and consistency in order processing among multiple systems. The right candidate will possess advanced analytical and decision-making skills. This billing team member acts as an expert resource to sales, operational and provisioning teams on all A to Z process steps related to E-rate customers. The role will be a valuable asset to the Billing team as the go to person to assist with analyses and has opportunities for growth and development within the company.


  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
  • Extensive A to Z support of all related to Erate process activities (sales , consultant agencies and billing team support )
  • Monthly reconciliation for All Erate accounts including Discount calculation by service and templates generation for Invoices uploads
  • 471 form approvals verification and tracking
  • 474 form fillings and funding reconciliations
  • Lead and drive Erate process automation and improvement
  • SOX controls and auditors support
  • Validate service orders prior to invoicing to ensure data integrity and adherence to billing requirements
  • Manage monthly audits, data integrity initiatives, and start to finish monthly invoice review, process and deadlines
  • Drive efficiencies within the Billing Order Entry team by utilizing reporting from operational systems while always having an eye for process improvements
  • Support the team of Billing Entry Experts through department-related and ancillary projects
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, service delivery, and product management teams on process improvements
  • Thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and practices surrounding orders and invoicing and be an Expert resource for various departments
  • Perform ad hoc data audits between operational and billing systems, run maintenance scripts and assure data integrity
  • Own the accuracy of invoices to both internal and external customers
  • Aptitude and desire for learning new/different processes within the company, with a drive to build a strong foundational skillset for a career at Lightpath
  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 3-4 years' Billing Support experience preferred
  • Advanced financial & analytical skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to lead a team and take ownership over the data sent to customers
  • Knowledge of [Register to View] and/or telecommunications billing systems and processes a plus
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, as well as manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work extended hours (some evenings and weekends, when necessary) and achieve results in a deadline driven environment
  • Extreme attention to detail and a passion for data
  • High energy self-motivator with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Strong sense of teamwork and mentoring highly desired, with a drive for learning and growth
