Risk Governance Manager, Business Continuity Risk Management
Capital One is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Risk Governance Manager to join the Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM) Team within the Operational Risk Management second line of defense. BCRM is responsible for independent oversight of Capital One’s business continuity practices enabling Capital One to respond to and recover from business disruptions. BCRM provides advice, effective challenge, monitoring and oversight of business continuity practices spanning individual business process continuity plans, business impact assessments, internal application resiliency, scaled exercises and testing, third party continuity and resiliency, and crisis management. As a Risk Governance Manager, you will support and lead initiatives within the Governance framework including conducting assessments, program delivery, and ensuring BCRM’s processes are well managed and audit/exam ready.

They have a high level of exposure and have the opportunity to work with executives to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage business continuity risks across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will be distinguished by excellent influence and communications skills, a passion for delivering exceptional results, a commitment to thought leadership, and a history of using sound judgment and developing meaningful relationships across diverse business teams.
Responsibilities to include:
Lead BCRM’s engagement activities on program assessments, internal audits, and regulatory commitments
Drive large, cross-functional initiatives to completion and execute roadmaps that deliver improved BC risk management practices, working with stakeholders to solve complex problems under tight deadlines
Own BCRM’s delivery and program management by integrating Agile and Lean principles to execute strategy and achieve team goals
Helps to establish governance structure where decision-making is weighted toward empowered teams
Coaches the program team to improve collaboration and self-organization
Provides regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments
Stay current on understanding effective risk management, operational resilience strategies, and business continuity requirements such as Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) industry guidance
Proactively identify strategic and emerging BC risks
Execute BCRM’s program maturity assessments to inform program strategy and transformation
Manage work across organizational lines to address competing priorities and achieve results
Communicate with and influence senior executives on key business continuity risks and actions needed
Build and leverage productive relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to promote a strong operational resilient posture and act as a change agent to influence key stakeholders
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 3 years of experience in risk management, or project management, or process management experience
At least 3 years of experience working with internal business customers
At least 5 years of experience in risk, or compliance, or audit;
At least 5 years of experience working in financial services
At least 3 years of project management experience leading complex, cross functional projects
PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
Industry certifications in Operational Risk Management
Industry certifications in Business Continuity; e.g., Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
