About the Job

As a UNIX/Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX/Linux systems in a large-scale EDA workload environment. This includes compute and infrastructure bare metal servers as well as virtual machines. In this role, you’ll be responsible for automating the installation of new servers, troubleshooting complex server hardware and OS errors, responding to user issues and monitoring the performance, availability and functionality of servers/services. In addition, you’ll need to understand NAS Storage, networking and be able to automate routine tasks and support processes using scripting languages to improve operational efficiency and eliminate low-tech errors.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum BS in MIS/CIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments and technologies (NFS, CIFS, SMB), file systems, and network protocols
  • Detailed knowledge of UNIX principles, file editing, UNIX commands, and file manipulation
  • Familiarity with UNIX and LINUX shell & Python/PERL scripting
  • Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP
  • Familiarity with naming services and secure protocols (NIS, LDAP, Kerberos, SSH, SFTP)
  • Understanding of backup procedures and storage management
  • Experience with thin clients, virtualization, cloud computing, Puppet, Spotfire, firewalls, server and storage hardware architectures and/or EDA software
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
