AI System SW/HW Co-Design team mission is to explore, develop and help productize high-performance software and hardware technologies for AI. Our team defines and drives AI HW at FB. We achieve our mission via SW/HW co-design: concurrent design and optimization of several aspects of the system, such as models, algorithms, numerics, and most importantly AI hardware. The team pursues two main directions: (1) Acceleration on existing HW to help gain insights into the system and its performance bottlenecks. This has improved performance and reduced TCO of all key AI services at FB: Ads, Feed, CV and NLP. (2) Leveraging these insights to define new accelerated AI HW.Meta is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Research & Development teams. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a range of problems. The position will involve taking these skills and applying them to some of the most exciting and massive social data and prediction problems that exist on the web.

Required SkillsSoftware Engineer (PhD) Responsibilities:
  • Apply relevant AI and machine learning techniques to build intelligent rich visual systems that improve Meta’s products and experiences
  • Develop novel, accurate AI algorithms and advanced systems for large scale applications
  • Define use cases and develop methodology and benchmarks to evaluate different approaches
Minumum QualificationMinimum Qualifications:
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • 4 + years of specialization experience in one or more of the following machine learning/deep learning domains
  • Ranking or Recommendation Systems Research
  • ML theory: reinforcement learning, privacy preserving machine learning, large scale personalization, machine learning fairness, machine learning interpretability, machine learning robustness
  • ML systems: AI infrastructure, machine learning accelerators, high performance computing, machine learning compilers, GPU architecture, machine learning frameworks, on-device optimization
Preferred QualificationPreferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with distributed systems or on-device algorithm development
  • Publications in top tier ML or System Conferences such as ASPLOS, ICML, ICLR, KDD, NIPS, MLSys
