Facebook's Connectivity team is looking for strong subject matter experts to design, implement and deploy future novel communication technologies. You will primarily be responsible to own the FPGA/HDL design, implementation, and verification of digital communications and signal processing logic. You will provide FPGA input during the PCB hardware design phase and will be the FPGA/HDL owner of development activities. To be successful in this role, you will make vital contributions to our cutting-edge next-generation communications equipment. You must also have excellent engineering fundamentals to draw on and possess a deep understanding of protocols, digital system design and product development. You will be surrounded by top notch engineers and together we will build the future hardware for metaverse connectivity.

Required SkillsFPGA Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Define and bring up FPGA platforms for pre-silicon validation and software development while collaborating with ASIC design(internal to Meta and external partners) and verification teams to develop a common environment for ASIC and FPGA. Enhance and maintain FPGA RTL and simulation changes to improve ASIC emulation
  • Have an understanding of product definition and specifications
  • Develop FPGA specifications and architectures from high-level block diagrams and product requirements documents
  • Implement FPGA designs in both rapid proof-of-concept/prototypes as well as fully qualified products
  • Integrate the FPGA designs with hardware and support overall system integration and qualification
  • Draft and maintain design documentation
  • System design, integration, debug and bring up in the lab and the field with a vision and clear path on transitioning the product to high volume manufacturing
  • Understanding and balancing of the engineering trade-offs between performance, cost, lead-time and manufacturability
  • Design and implement system-on-chip solutions that use embedded ARM processors such as Zynq Ultrascale, utilizing DDR, fast serial interfaces such as JESD-204B, 1G/10G/25G Ethernet interfaces, AXI-4 buses, and more
Minumum QualificationMinimum Qualifications:
  • Experience with VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog
  • BS degree with 8+ years of experience or Masters with 6+ years of experience in wireless communication
  • Experience with at least one scripted language (Python or MATLAB)
  • Experience with HDL testbench design, HDL design verification, regression testing
  • Experience with FPGA architecture, design optimization, timing closure, properly sizing the FPGA
  • Experience working with cross-functional R&D teams developing embedded hardware for FPGA deployed solutions with demonstrated leadership of small technical teams and projects
  • Experience implementing digital interface standards in FPGA designs (AXI/AHB/MIPI/SPI, UART, I2C, USB, Ethernet, 10GbE, PCIe, JESD, VLDS, etc.)
  • Detail oriented and diligent, balanced with rapid execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with hardware debuggers, chip-scopes, on-chip simulators and debugging tools of various FPGA vendors
  • Experience with bring up and debugging activities of custom FPGA based PCBs
Preferred QualificationPreferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of industry’s best practices in embedded software design with experience in embedded SW development
  • Understanding of C/C++ software development, IDE development tools
  • Experience with basic hardware design
  • Experience with digital communications theory and DSP algorithms
  • Exposure to basic hardware design and embedded software development
  • Experience with Vivado HW Flow, FSBL, BSP
  • Experience integrating peripheral drivers to support board validation and bringup
  • Experience with embedded Linux platforms
  • Experience proposing and executing prototype projects that introduce an innovative solution to new or existing problems
  • Experience with IP networking protocols
  • May possess a Doctorate in any technical domain
