There is never a dull moment on this strategic effort, a cornerstone for the Nation’s security! The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program will replace the aging Minuteman III (MMIII) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), the first of its kind in over 50 years. The MMIII missile fleet was fielded in the 1970s and some of components date back to the 1960s. The GBSD program is considered a “mega-project” and one of the most complex in the history of the Department of Defense. The new GBSD weapon system acquisition effort brings the newest digital engineering tools and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) practices to meet existing warfighter requirements, while having the adaptability and flexibility to affordably address changing technology and threat environments through 2075.
The Role
BAE Systems is looking for a Project Manager to support Planning, Programming and Design activities to construct and convert facilities needed to support GBSD for the United States Air Force while working in the Integrated Support Contract's (ISC) Infrastructure and Deployment Division. Daily responsibilities include supporting the GBSD Government customer and other contract team members in the management of the GBSD contract, aligning the necessary stakeholders to review, assess, and evaluate designs to ensure they meet Weapon System Specifications, maintain schedules, interact with local installation representatives, and facilitate stakeholder communications. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Microsoft Office programs; ensuring accuracy and completeness of content, recommending corrective actions and providing support to programmatic and technical briefings, reports and other related documentation. Additionally, the candidate will be able to facilitate and execute internal and external meetings to support the program and represent the I&D Division in working groups with government customers and outside agencies.
