Job Description 1. Support Product Design and Development. Contribute to the design, development and selection of hardware components utilizing mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques. Assigned duties may include design and development of specific packaging modules, mechanisms, components or subsystems to meet design requirements. Provide technical direction to design support personnel. Receive limited direction and instruction from senior engineering staff.
2. Perform Mechanical Analyses. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of company standard analysis tools. Assure adequate analysis to achieve performance objectives. Perform static, dynamic and heat transfer analyses of mechanical structures. Analyze data and document results.
3. Coordinate Validation of Design. Coordinate the fabrication and environmental testing of design hardware. Design and procure prototype hardware. Coordinate the environmental testing of hardware including: vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue and others as required. Review and document results. Assist in product transition to Operations as required.
4. Prepare Documentation. Generate, review and approve the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports and other documentation associated with the mechanical design. Prepare design review packages and present for internal review.
5. Support Continuous Improvement. Ensure compliance with Mechanical Design Process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in mechanical engineering disciplines. Recommend improvements that produce cost effective and producible designs
6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. Make independent technical decisions on work consistent with objectives
7. Basic knowledge of industry CAD tools (CREO preferred) is required.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
2-3 years of working in an engineering environment
Strong interpersonal skills including team collaboration, presentation, organizational, verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills 1. Basic knowledge and experience with regard to electronics packaging is preferred but not required.
2. Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred but not required.
3. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not required.
4.
