Sentinel ICBM Physical Security Project Manager (80356BR)
BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Project Manager for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), known as the Sentinel ICBM Program.
Tell me about this job. This position will directly support the Sentinel Launch Systems (LS) Branch as they acquire the weapon system Physical Security System (PSS) capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Duties will include providing expert advice and support to GBSD leaders on all physical security aspects throughout the acquisition cycle. Areas of responsibility that fall under PSS includes augmenting organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, and mission effectiveness.
To successfully accomplish this, the Sentinel ICBM Program requires a Project Manager with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks and multi-task with minimal disruption is a must.
This position will directly support the US Air Force’s Command and Launch (C&L) Division within the Sentinel ICBM Program Office.
Specifically, this potential team member will be responsible for supporting the government customer in the review, and assessment of Sentinel prime contractor design, documentation, architectures, and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) products in order to meet acquisition requirements and timelines. Our team provides expertise on weapon system and lab architectures, concepts of operation, modeling, simulation, and plans for addressing the PSS. This team member will assist in the day-to-day operations of the LS Branch including status tracking, meeting support, integrated master schedule (IMS) development and management. The position interacts with government customer staff and senior leaders in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Headquarter Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, the National Security Agency, U.S. Strategic Command, as well as numerous other Sentinel team partners from Federally-Funded Research, Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs) and other organizations. This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with other program managers, engineers, logisticians, testers, and external agencies. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation system.
Why GBSD? The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program was recently designated the USAF as the Sentinel ICBM program. The Sentinel program is an enormous modernizing the entire ICBM weapon systemIt is a long-term project -- the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2025, and remain operational until at least 2075. Sentinel is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not available with smaller projects.

This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to special-access, classified working environment and is not conducive to regular “telework” schedules.

- 7+ years of progressive technical experience.
- Must have current (within last 6 years) Secret security clearance or higher and be able to obtain Top Secret and all required special access program clearances within a reasonable timeframe. The criteria for clearance is determined by the US Government. You must be a US Citizen.
- ICBM experience with security systems or missile security forces operations, and working knowledge of nuclear security standards is highly desirable
- Experience with security system concepts, sensors, alarms, displays, software, and communications networks is highly desirable
- Self-motivated with a willingness to develop new skills in new technical areas, solve challenging and unique problems, enjoy working on a diverse and dynamic range of technical challenges, able to rapidly learn, excellent verbal and written communications skills in addition to sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders is highly desirable.
- DoD acquisition experience/accreditation or equivalent is desirable.
- High level of proficiency using office software such as Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
