Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for well qualified professionals to join our team for an exciting opportunity to support the readiness and sustainment of the USAF Minuteman III (MMIII) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program. It is America’s only dedicated ICBM Test Range professionally executing tests that accurately measure the current and future capability of the nation’s ICBM force. This mission helps to establish accuracy and reliability planning factors under operational conditions, detects changes in weapon system accuracy and reliability, identifies areas for weapon system modification or improvement, and verifies operational effectiveness and suitability through demonstration. This position will directly support the MMIII ICBM program through operational test launch preflight planning, launch support and post launch analysis. Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Essential Functions:

  • Provide engineering & technical support for minuteman III missile guidance systems.

  • Provide engineering & technical support for missile guidance system instruments.

  • Provide support analysis for hardware receipt inspections, hardware and software processing and system integration, launch preparation and test data evaluation.

  • Provide engineering and technical expertise to support the preparation and launch of the MMIII ICBM in accordance with Range Commander`s Council 319 and 324-01 guidance and Western Range requirements to include radars, telemetry, communications, data transport and displays.

  • Have an understanding of MMIII flight sequence of events.

  • Support MMIII operational test launch preflight mission planning, test launch meetings and post launch flight assessment and analysis discussions.

  • Provide on-site engineering expertise, insight, corrective action, guidelines and information concerning the MMIII weapon system in areas of Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) consisting of missile guidance systems, solid rocket motors, booster inter-stages, arm-disarm switches, flight controls, missile ordnance devices, liquid propulsion systems, destruct systems, Operational Ground Equipment (OGE), and test support equipment.

  • Prepare and publish prelaunch processing reports, missile test data, white paper briefing material, quick-look evaluations and vehicle performance reports.

  • Be responsible for MMIII prelaunch processing tasks which include monitoring processing operations, verifying missile test data, evaluating missile guidance instrument performance and provide weapon system guidance instrument analysis.

  • Monitor weapon system performance utilizing various weapon system monitoring equipment.

  • Develop test plans and procedures and review test documentation as required.

  • Provide training to the customer as required.

  • Provide engineering support necessary to support the Air Force with missile flight test anomalies and provide analysis in determining causes/malfunctions and develop corrective action solutions through pre & post launch data reviews.

  • Support special studies and analysis as required.

  • Monitor current and future range instrumentation capabilities and requirements and coordinate with subsystem contractors as needed.

  • Be able to evaluate telemetry data for accuracy and provide analysis on performance of guidance instruments which impacts operational force readiness.

  • Coordinate with Air Force customer to resolve any technical support problems.

  • Assist in analysis and understanding of missile systems and associated parameters required to operate and assess their performance.

  • Maintain MMIII historical guidance data and perform comparison data analysis of subsystems.

  • Must be familiar with the MMIII Security Classification Guide.

  • Must understand MMIII telemetry requirements, work with analog measurements, discrete data, digital data, and operational ground/flight computer words and have an ability to perform derived data products produced from IRIG Chapter 10 telemetry files.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Must be able to operate under a timeline driven process environment and able to solve problems relatively quickly and supportive IAW USAF technical directives.

  • Must possess good verbal and written technical communication skills.

  • Continuously strive to maintain and enhance the technical reputation of BAE Systems with customers and industry.


Previous experience in solid missile guidance system theory and western range IRIG chapter 10 telemetry standards is desired. Must be able to work reliably with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mat Lab and MM telemetry IRIG chapter 10 software tools.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
Some travel required.
