Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Program Manager with extensive Systems Engineering experience for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).

Tell me about this job. This position will act as the Branch Chief for the ISC Specialty Systems Engineering office and will directly support the Air Force Sentinel Specialty Systems Branch Chief (government Senior Materiel Leader) as he/she enables the acquisition and development of the next generation ICBM. Duties will include leading a team of project managers and engineers who are providing expert advice and support to Sentinel Division leaders on all systems engineering and integration aspects throughout the acquisition cycle. Focus areas of responsibility that fall under Specialty Engineering include: nuclear hardness and survivability; Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM): Parts, Material and Processes; Manufacturing and Quality; Hunan Systems Integration; TEMPEST; Natural Environments; and Corrosion Control.

To successfully field the new weapon system, the Sentinel program requires a highly-experienced Program Manager with a willingness to lead, learn, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks and multi-task with minimal disruption is a must.

Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will serve as the senior program manager responsible for supporting the government customer in the creation, review, and assessment of documents, architecture, and Model Based System Engineering artifacts in order to meet Sentinel acquisition requirements and timelines. This program manager will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Specialty Engineering Branch including status tracking, meeting support, schedule development and management. The position interacts with senior staff and senior leaders in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Headquarter Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, the National Security Agency, U.S. Strategic Command, as well as other Sentinel team partners from Federally-Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs). This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with other senior program managers, senior engineers, logisticians, testers, and external agencies.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM

  • At least 10 years’ experience in direct Program Management (8+ years with Master’s)

  • Excellent cognitive, communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills.

  • Active US DoD Secret Security Clearance granted within the last 5 years

  • At least 5 years’ experience leading technical teams

  • Experience managing large projects

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills ref: setting expectations, managing work, and lead individuals and teams

  • Demonstrated self-discipline to plan and prioritize their own work with successful results

  • An active U.S. government Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Graduate degree in Engineering or a related technical field

  • MBA degree and/or PMP certification

  • ASEP or other comparable professional certification

  • Active U.S. DoD Top Secret Clearance

  • Experience managing within, or entire, DoD acquisition programs

  • Experience with technical systems, systems engineering, or business

  • ICBM Weapon System experience (Sentinel and/or Minuteman)

  • Specific knowledge and application of USAF SEAM principles and processes

  • General knowledge of MS Project, Primavera or other scheduling tools

  • General knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS

  • General knowledge of product lifecycle management tools such as Teamcenter

  • General knowledge of model-based systems engineering processes and applications such as Cameo EA

  • General knowledge of software development, integration and deployment in a DevSecOps and/or Cloud environment

  • Knowledge and/or experience in NH&S, RAM, Parts, Material, Processes, Manufacturing/Quality, Human Systems Integration, TEMPEST, Natural Environments and Corrosion Control
