Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing (HPC) Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) and Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Vicksburg, MS. The successful candidate will serve as a lead Data Scientist supporting HPC engineering and operations.

This position develops, transforms, and models data to improve decision making. Provide analytical support to the HPCMP Data Analysis and Assessment Center (DAAC), including but not limited to: Assist users with scientific visualization, data analysis tools, and techniques; create artistic, conceptual, and physics based visualizations.

Responsible for data extraction and manipulation of data sets. Creates workflows and predictive models for end-users using system tools. Conducts statistical analysis on data to ensure correct predictive forecasting. Manages the analytics request process by capturing requirements. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of surveys and deciphering survey analytics; participation in technical forums; and representing our company in joint meetings with the customer on HPC technical topics.

The candidate is expected to have strong analytical, problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork skills, and needs excellent written and oral communication skills in order to collaborate and support government agencies and national laboratories. Knowledge, good understanding and experience with HPC systems and their performance is required. Particularly, demonstrated proficiency with python/MATLAB/Julia or similar abstract language. Demonstrated proficiency with technical writing. Must be willing to travel to conferences and workshops, to meet / present technical findings to large audiences and sponsors, and to assist with technical writing. Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, be willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients.

  • Master's degree and at least 8 years of experience (equivalent experience may be substituted)
  • 8570.01M/ IAT-II
  • Active security clearance and ability to maintain
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • At least 6 years of experience with HPC systems
  • Knowledge of ITIL Foundation
  • Ph.D.
