Job Description What is a Commodity Manager / Sourcing Engineer at BAE Systems? It is a highly empowered role with strategic Commodity Management and tactical Sourcing and Supplier Quality responsibilities for given commodities. BAE Systems is looking for an experienced candidate with interest in Commodity Management and supplier quality and supplier management. In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define, support, and develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management. The qualified individual will have responsibility for supporting the supply chain across these business areas. Candidates will need to demonstrate technical capability in order to communicate effectively with design / component engineering on quality improvement topics and cost reduction / design change opportunities both internally and within the supply base. Candidates will also need to exhibit good interpersonal skills in order to grow supplier relationships in order to support our business needs. In this job, you will:

  • Take the lead in developing commodity sourcing strategies based on existing and forecast spend, demand and supply challenges, and marketplace conditions in a 2 – 5 year window.
  • Communicate the strategy to the team, leadership, and cross functional teams.
  • Foster and drive relationships with major Supplier Partners and Distributors.
  • Align supply chain processes to support the strategic plan for the commodity, while executing tactical actions for New Products and Programs.
  • Negotiate contracts, place purchase orders, and follow-up on supplier delivery.
  • Disposition nonconforming products, drive root cause / corrective action, and perform processes assessments at suppliers.
  • Foster growth of internal and external relationships through collaboration with cross functional teams and intentional engagements with suppliers.
  • Engage in the team-oriented environment to leverage growth and sharing while supporting a safe working environment.
  • Drive supplier performance to yield year over year improvement in quality, cash, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Execute projects to improve efficiencies, drive out cost, manage change, and to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain compliance to established procurement and quality procedures.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong Technical Aptitude
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Direct experience with sourcing and supplier relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Engineering or Technical Degree
  • Commodity experience with the Passives, Magnetics and/or Switch industries
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • Supply Chain Coursework
  • Commodity Management experience
