Software Engineer (Onsite/Remote Hybrid)

If your answer is yes, our Enterprise IT Solutions team is seeking a motivated, mid-level software developer to work with our development team and support the strategic initiatives of the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) in Rome, NY.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional resource management and task prioritization by effectively balancing their time between multiple efforts. Candidate will be able to provide leadership to seamlessly usher an ongoing project from the development stage into sustainment while coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify user needs and propose software innovations for AFRL’s existing cross-domain solutions.

Daily responsibilities:

• Works with the customers or stakeholders to gather application requirements
• Maintains high-quality software by applying Agile principles and best practices
• Produces efficient and elegant code based on customer requirements
• Performs ongoing testing and deployment
• Refactors legacy applications for continuous integration
• Follows established guidelines, procedures, and release management protocols
• Troubleshoots and debugs any issues that arise
• Maintains technical documentation

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS and 2 years of experience in software development or AS and 5 years of experience
• Jira/Confluence
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript languages
• CI/CD and DevOps (Git, GitLab, GitLab pipelines, and Docker)
• Source code version control
• Relational or noSQL database technologies
• Linux OS/REST API
• Cloud computing providers, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Cloud
• Angular framework
• MongoDB

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
• Python, C++, and Scala
• PHP or Ruby programming languages
• VMWare vSphere
• Compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
• Must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.
