Organization Development Lead

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an Organization Development Lead responsible for supporting talent and organizational development programs and strategy across all levels of the laboratory. As part of the Learning and Organization Development function, the Organization Development Lead will work closely with that area’s leadership as well as with Human Resource Managers and laboratory leadership to support and enhance Argonne’s talent and organizational development strategy.

  • Acts as an OD consultant and thought partner to Argonne’s various directorates with a focus on listening, understanding, and collaboratively designing solutions
  • Manages Argonne’s climate survey programs and consults with HR Managers and senior leaders to support appropriate interventions in response to the results
  • Partners with directorate and HR leadership to plan and execute organizational development solutions to achieve long-term results and add value in support of Argonne’s strategic objectives
  • Measures and reports the impact of talent and organizational interventions through metrics, focus groups, performance results, and similar evaluative methods
  • Partners with other members of the Learning and Organization Development team to align talent and organizational development opportunities and solutions with existing learning and employee development programs and initiatives
  • Collaborates and serves as a leader on organizational change management initiatives with a focus on impact and sustainability
  • Leads efforts to define, develop, and refine organizational competencies in support of Argonne, its directorates, and its leadership and employees
  • Champions Argonne’s culture through participation in and, as applicable, leadership of initiatives supporting the continued growth and development of organizational culture
  • Supports Argonne’s Individual Development Plan talent strategy through consultation, collaboration, coaching, and education

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field required. Master’s degree in Organizational Development preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Organizational Development experience in a corporate, government, or higher education environment
  • Self-driven mindset with the ability to receive general objectives and operate with a high level of independence
  • Strong consultative skills and experience working with and influencing business partners in the determination of organizational needs and opportunities
  • Demonstrated project management skills in a professional environment
  • Experience managing an enterprise-wide employee survey process
  • Proven experience in the areas of change management and organizational culture
  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and act with the flexibility and initiative to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to tailor solutions and communication style to diverse audiences and to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner
  • Unquestionable personal integrity, fairness and credibility necessary to gain the trust and commitment of individuals at all levels
