The Pediatric Intensive Care Services at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital is looking for nurses that are enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care and passionate about pediatric oncology care. Our Pedi Intensive Care Unit is a 9 bed pod providing an inter-professional team approach to care for all pediatric patients including: Medical/Surgical Pediatrics Intensive Care Services consisting of Immune Effector Cell Therapy, oncologic emergencies, acute oncology surgical procedures, and supportive care.
***Ideal candidate must graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing, TX RN license. Strongly prefer candidates with 2 or more years of recent RN experience ICU and/or Pedi ICU. ***
Shift: 7 pm - 7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.
Salary Range: Minimum $66,000 - Mid-Point $90,000- Maximum $114,000
Function: Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Scope: Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Preferred: Two years' experience in Pedi ICU or ICU.
All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
