SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this Patient Representative position is to provide oversight for the patient/visitor screening and process. Impacts department operations and institutional patient satisfaction programs.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Patient Representative Responsibilities

  • Assists patients, families and visitors with solving hospital-related problems. Identifies system problems that cause customer dissatisfaction and complaints and advocates a plan for improvement. Coordinates patient services, programs and activities.
  • Create SI Reports when observing safety issues and trains screener on proper patient/visitor protocols.
  • Ensure all staff is wearing proper PPE. Ensures entry site is staffed according to daily schedule and entry site is fully stocked.
  • Performs all other duties aligned with Patient Relations while adhering to all hospital policies and procedures.

Required: Bachelor's degree. One year of customer service or related experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in foreign language, social science, psychology, human relations or related field. Certification in adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid. Two years experience in a hospital setting. Verbal fluency in two or more languages (English being one of the languages).
