Nurse Manager Position on G9W Pediatrics Unit. MD Anderson Cancer Center Children's Cancer Hospital brings hope to families, offering the most advanced childhood cancer treatments in a kid-friendly environment. Our inpatient unit has 35 beds which includes 9 acuity-adaptable beds (intermediate and intensive care) will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell.

Ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree, TX RN license and five years of recent professional nursing experience in Pediatrics / Heme Oncology with recent inpatient experience to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care. BLS and/or ACLS certification required. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

FUNCTION: Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates individualized nursing care; nursing care management and nursing personnel management for a designated area.

SCOPE: Impacts patient care and daily operations assigned patient care areas.

Essential Job Functions: Manages nursing administration in identification of purpose and goals of nursing service and nursing education. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates nursing care. Coordinates staffing. Manages budget preparation toward provision of adequate personnel, supplies and equipment. Responsible for nursing care in assigned area. Counsels and evaluates nursing personnel for optimum performance. Develops and participates in orientation and in-service education programs for areas of specialization. Collaborates with faculty and assists respective area.

Marginal Job Functions Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Education Preferred Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.

Experience Required Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

Experience Preferred One year experience in cancer care.

Licensure/Certification Required Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Licensure/Certification Preferred Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient.

Other Required Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
