The Provider Relations Advocate is responsible for the full range of provider relations and service interactions within UnitedHealth Group, including working on end-to-end provider claim and call quality, ease of use of physician portal and future service enhancements, and training & development of external provider education programs. Provider Relations Advocates design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers (physician, hospital, ancillary, etc.), and practice managers. Responsibilities also include directing and implementing strategies relating to the development and management of a provider network, identifying gaps in network composition and services to assist the network contracting and development staff in prioritizing contracting needs, and may also be involved in identifying and remediating operational short-falls and researching and remediating claims. This position is part of UHC Community & State and will focus on Home and Community based services.

If you are located within the state of KS or within 50 miles of KS border, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in end-to-end provider claims processing and resolution
  • Assist in efforts to enhance ease of use of physician portal and future services enhancements
  • Assist in identifying gaps in network composition and services to support network contracting and development teams
  • Use pertinent data and facts to identify and solve a range of problems within area of expertise
  • Investigate non-standard requests and problems, with some assistance from others
  • Work exclusively within a specific knowledge area
  • Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines

In this role, you’ll be part of a performance driven, fast paced organization that is serving multiple markets. You’ll have frequent interactions with senior management and physicians as you communicate about ways to evolve ongoing processes and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or 2+ years of equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with Medical Providers
  • 1+ years of experience with Medicaid Regulations and Kansas Medicaid billing requirements
  • 1+ years of experience providing training or education
  • 1+ years of medical insurance claims experience
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the State of KS

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience with CSP Facets
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Good organization, planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and remain on task with little-to-no day-to-day supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines from multi staff members through the department
