The Claims Operations Manager is responsible for management and administration of multiple functions, or management of general business operations within Claims Department.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (6:00am - 6:00pm). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of multiple levels of staff and multiple functions across one or more business units
  • Manage day to day site operations, supervisor leadership (internal and external to organization), and accountability for financial and non-financial results (budgets and actuals)
  • Provide expertise or general claims support to teams in reviewing, researching, investigating, negotiating, processing and adjusting claims
  • Authorize the appropriate payment or refers claims to investigators for further review
  • Conduct data entry and re-work; analyzes and identifies trends and provides reports as necessary
  • Lead project management and implementation initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of supervisory/managerial experience in claims adjudication or customer service
  • 2+ years of managing relationships with clients and/or vendors
  • 2+ years of managing budgets, process improvement and quality assurance
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word (create and edit documents and add visual aids), Microsoft Excel (create, edit, sort, filter, create pivot tables), and Microsoft PowerPoint (create and edit presentation)
  • Ability to work any 8-hour shift between 6a - 6p
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (or higher)
  • Understanding of claims processing systems
  • 5+ years of healthcare claims leadership experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing presentations to include charting
  • Senior Level Supervisory/Managerial experience in medical claims
  • Reside in New York, NY

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 - $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 - $129,900.
