Responsibilities

This SRA position
is for a person in charge of the 'Gene and Cell Delivery Core' for the departmental
Vision Research Core. The SRA will work
with the Core director Dr. Yang to establish and operate an efficient viral
production and visual system gene/cell delivery facility. The skill set for this position includes excellent
molecular and cell biology background and experiences to perform routine cell
culture and DNA transfection techniques. The job also requires excellent organizational and communication skills. The position is best suited to an individual
with at least a bachelor degree in biology and prior experiences in a research
environment. The candidate must be
detail-oriented, follow instructions, and motivated to produce high quality
work in collaboration. The opportunity to make contributions to research projects
leading to publication will be provided. This position could either be a part-time (50%) or a full-time
appointment, depending on experience and performance.

**This is a six month limited appointment role. Limited appointments may convert to career.**

Qualifications

Knowledge of
molecular biology, including practical experiences for molecular cloning,
plasmid DNA purification, and PCR

Ability to
perform standard mammalian cell culture techniques, including using biosafety
cabinet, maintaining clean TC incubators, cell expansion and passage,
cryostorage of cell lines

Experience to
perform high efficiency transfection of HEK cells, viral harvesting and
concentration techniques. Experiences
of lentivirus and rAAV production and concentration preferred

Capability to
perform immunocytochemistry and epifluorescent microscopy

Good
organization and communication skills, abilities to operate independently
after necessary training

Ability to
coordinate core research activities and work efficiently with others
