The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking
to hire a full-time Administrative Specialist to join the Hispanic
Neuropsychiatric Center of Excellence (HNCE) team to help support capacity
building for bilingual neuropsychological services for limited
English-proficiency Latinos(as) throughout LA County. Primary duties include:

  • Assist with implementation of HNCE projects
  • Scheduling, registering, processing, and coordinating patient referrals
  • Insurance verification and authorization
  • Prepare training materials such as manuals, charts, educational materials, pamphlets, or other visual aids
  • Coordinate multiple HNCE trainees at all levels
  • Assist with grant and development submissions
  • Build and maintain neuropsychology assessment library in both English and Spanish
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Spanish
Experience in implementing new programs/services
Skill using Microsoft Office software
Experience using EPIC or other e-medical record software
Ability to create and maintain a research data base
Basic research skills
Adequate skill in analyzing information, problems, procedures, and situations, on a meta-level to define problem or objective, identify relevant concerns/factors, and identify patterns
Excellent organizational skills to prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines
Ability to learn institutional policy and procedures in order to service patients
Expertise, knowledge, and experience in managing clinical operations (strongly preferred)
Ability to learn about psychiatric and medical terminology (CPT, ICD-10, DSM-5 codes)
Ability to establish rapport, handle distress, confused and/or hostile patients/visitors
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all faculty, trainees, and staff
