The Kim & Zack lab of Department of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Division is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant to help with standard laboratory procedures in cellular immunology and virology. Primary duties include:

*Perform molecular biology and immunology experiments in the study of the cellular immune response in HIV-1 infection
*Organize and maintain data
*Maintain basic functions of the laboratory including ordering/stocking of supplies (e.g. disposables, medium, antibodies, plasmids, cell lines)


Required Qualifications
*Skill in reading and following instructions in laboratory protocols and other scientific documents
*Ability to perform a given protocol with meticulous precision and in a reproducible way with directed supervision
*Ability to maintain accurate and timely records of experiments and equipment
*Skill in basic computer data acquisition procedures
*Excellent communication skills
*Ability to work outside of normal shift, including weekends, occasionally
*Ability to work closely with other technicians in conducting large-scale experiments

Not required, but a bonus if you are experienced in:
*Using common laboratory equipment using BSL2+ laboratory practices and sterile techniques
*Tissue culture techniques to maintain cell lines and isolate and culture primary immune cells from blood or tissues
*Performing transfections, vector purification, and titration
*Flow cytometry staining of samples (cells, blood, tissue)
*Flow cytometry acquisition and analysis (particularly Miltenyi MACSQuant)
*Molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, molecular cloning, DNA electrophoresis, and PCR and RT-PCR
*Tissue and blood processing of animal samples (mouse and primate)
