The Role at a Glance:

As Lincoln Financial Group continues through its technology transformation journey, the Distributed Compute team is at the center. As part of DCT, this System Engineer will help lead core infrastructure services into the next phase of compute. You will have the opportunity to work with many technologies and on a team that has fully adopted an automation first methodology. As a member on this engineering team, you can expect to implement solutions to automate the administration of a large amount of compute servers. You will have a wide array of DevOps CI/CD toolsets available to engineer solutions and grow your skillset in our compute environment.

What you'll be doing:
  • Remote management of large server environments using scripting, configuration management, or automated systems.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of continuous delivery pipelines for scripting, configuration management, or automated solutions.
  • Create and document subject matter expert roadmaps for solutions and technologies assigned.
  • Research new technologies and platforms within the assigned areas that could provide value to the enterprise and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of infrastructure by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
  • Keep current with industry best practices and actively analyzes to ensure that we are taking them into account.
  • Champion and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.
  • Provide the root cause analysis on the major incidents/problems.
  • Collaborates with technical and business staff to implement solutions that fit the requirements of the business.
What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Advanced Linux Administration Experience including but not limited to:
      • Expert level RHEL 7.* and 8.*, CentOS, Amazon Linux 1 and 2
      • apt/yum Automation
      • RedHat Satellite
      • Migrations/Upgrades
      • Logical volume management
      • sssd Active Directory Integration
    • Familiarity with NAS/SAN storage technology
    • Puppet Enterprise Management and Development
    • Ansible or Ansible Tower
    • Python
    • API Integrations: REST or otherwise
    • Git, Gitlab or Subversion
    • VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, kvm, Nutanix AHV, or container
    • ServiceNow Workflows (Optional)
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
    • OS Security risk / vulnerability assessment and mitigation
    • Data center migration experience
    • RHEL6 to 7 and/or RHEL7 to 8 upgrade experience
    • Operating System support for Oracle Databases
