Support Svc. Supervisor for Robotic Splitting

LabCorp is seeking a Support Services Supervisor to join Robotic Splitting & Sorting team in Burlington, NC. In this position, the Support Service Supervisor will be someone who is resourceful and determined to accomplish daily tasks. This person also values each member of their team equally and shows respect and consideration to both management and employees. This person will be a strong leader and capable of giving employees both positive feedback and constructive criticism, as well as being a hands on leader.


  • Associates degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Previous leadership experience highly desired
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • Proven leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient at multi-tasking, solid organizational skills, and ability to be flexible
  • Knowledge of CLIA, JCAHO, CAP and state regulations a plus
  • Detail oriented
  • Comfortable making decisions in fast paced environments

The schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 6:00pm-4:00am, with flexibility to cover 3rd shift hours if needed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the staff and operations of the laboratory support functions
  • Directs all phases of work.
  • Takes a visible leadership role and motivates staff.
  • Assists in the implementation of new processes and contributes to process redesign as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains adherence to quality assurance measures to monitor department efficiencies.
  • Interviews and hires new staff.
  • Evaluations and documents staff performance.
  • Monitors quality in accessioning operations, proficiency and staff competency.


  • Identifies training needs and assures that staff receives continuing education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory work performed.
  • Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken in the event of process deviation.
  • Develops plans/projects to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness and to implement new testing platforms as needed.
  • Develops and monitors metrics for staff productivity.
  • Interview, orient and train personnel, reviews performance and makes recommendations for personnel action when needed.
  • Establishes and maintains procedures according to regulatory requirements.
  • Performs tasks to support operations and to maintain technical expertise in all aspects of work performed by subordinates.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Participates fully in department activities, provides input into staff and management discussions, problem solving efforts and follow-up.
  • Motivates staff to perform optimally and maintains a cooperative work environment. Facilitates and resolves employee conflict when needed.
  • Ensures compliance with LabCorp policies and codes of conduct.
  • Communicates problems and suggestions for efficient and quality operations to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Manages personal time to complete necessary daily activities as well as larger projects and coaches, mentors and develops staff.
