We are the Global Health & Wellbeing (H&W) team at Unilever. We are a start-up (less than 2 years old), focused on one of Unilever’s largest growth opportunities – the €140bn Health & Wellbeing space defined by Vitamins, Minerals, and Supplements.

OUR BUSINESS

Unilever’s Health & Wellbeing Group holds the company’s functional nutrition brands and the portfolio of brands that includes Equilibra (Italy) and US acquired brands Olly, LiquidIV, SmartyPants, Welly and most recently, Onnit. Each brand is completely unique and focused on giving consumers superior experiences within their respective spaces and target segments. We are committed to continue to grow this strategic business for Unilever through a series of acquisitions and international expansion of acquired brands through Unilever’s scale and network in the markets.

CREATING A STRING OF PEARLS

In May 2021 Unilever announced that Health & Wellbeing would be organized as an integrated Global Business Unit (GBU) bringing together the acquired operating companies, category strategy focused on M&A, international expansion, and entering new and adjacent categories, as well as platform functions such as HR, Legal, R&D, Regulatory, IT, and Finance. This organization is led by our EVP Health & Wellbeing, with support from a dedicated leadership team. Following the string of pearls approach, the GBU Leadership Team will establish a balanced operating model that preserves the unique cultures of each businesses, while gluing together and scaling capabilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

The Digital and eCommerce Manager will be responsible for driving eCommerce and digital led growth for the Health & Wellbeing category and in building a world class eCommerce ecosystem and capabilities suite that can be leveraged across the H&W portfolio for current operations, upcoming eCommerce led international expansions, and future acquisitions. The intent is to supercharge the eCommerce and digital capabilities of the H&W category by driving both inorganic growth – via M&A eCommerce assessments, and organic growth – via driving synergies and building an integrated approach to DTC and international expansion. This role will work closely with cross-functional leads across the operating companies, including eCommerce, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Build an integrated DTC strategy, ecosystem and capability suite across the operating companies
    • Lead understanding of DTC capabilities and key requirements across all operating companies
    • Craft an integrated approach on DTC to drive benefits of scale
    • Drive DTC synergies across operating companies; e.g., have a consolidated approach on eCommerce fulfilment, tech stack, customer acquisition and retention, data strategy
    • Create a community of DTC experts across the group to foster cross pollination of ideas
    • Build a suite of external and internal capabilities and partnerships to drive a stronger DTC business for the H&W collective

  • Lead M&A digital and eCommerce assessments
    • Lead the digital and eCommerce assessments for 2-4-8 H&W M&A agenda
    • Establish a digital and eCommerce assessment framework and strategy
    • Analyze a target’s eCommerce capabilities and growth potential and build eCommerce business cases

  • Lead international expansion for one or more H&W operating companies
    • Build and execute eCommerce led brand expansion strategies and launch plans for target markets to drive incremental growth for the operating companies
    • Work with cross-functional teams to maximize competitiveness of mix while remaining compliant to local regulations and landing launches on-time and in-full
    • Build international expansion capability within selected operating companies

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in eCommerce, digital marketing, or related field
  • Passionate about the possibilities that digital, eCommerce and data can drive
  • Able to build business insights and strategies with a consumer-led and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Able to execute effectively with strong bias for action and accountability
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to hold people accountable, proven track record in making things happen
  • Highly collaborative, team player who seeks to understand
  • Positive mindset, ability to bring people together, energise and inspire the teams while going through challenging times
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building inside and out
