What you’ll do
The Operations Leader is responsible for supporting the VP, Medical Covid & Infection in planning and execution of key strategic initiatives as well as leading and managing initiatives within the Medical Covid & Infection organization.
The Leader provides high level support to the VP, Medical Covid & Infection team agendas, actions, and decisions. Additional key responsibilities include serving as the Vaccine Medical's coordinator of strategy development, goal management/tracking, and management of special projects. The Leader acts as a point of contact between Vaccine Leadership and organisational stakeholders to ensure coordination and alignment.
Organisational progress and achievements against the scorecard and long-range operating plans.
Responsible for overall budget and resource planning across the therapeutic area
Coordinates team activities such as planning executive staff meetings, quarterly off-sites (driving the agenda/ content/ flow); and coordinating accountability follow-up.
Establishes short and long term agenda with VP, Medical Covid & Infection to ensure alignment with agreed upon strategic imperatives/priorities.
Identifies and facilitates the creation of appropriate decision making or discussion forums to address critical issues.
Ensures VP, Medical Covid & Infection time is maximised by thoroughly identifying appropriate issues for escalation and vetting discussion goals/materials in advance.
Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance, developing and executing special projects as needed.
Creates and maintains an integrated Medical Covid & Infection project/activity timeline.
Acts as point of contact between top management and stakeholders.
Ensures linkage between team strategy and operational activities.
Identifies issues and facilitates problem-solving, contingency planning, and decision-making. Informs key partners of status, issues, problems, and proposed solutions as appropriate.
Partners with internal communication functions, and others as appropriate, to ensure the timely cascade of core messages as well as effective execution of organisational strategies.
Partners with VP, Medical Covid & Infection and appropriate resources to foster effective team dynamics to promote desired Medical Covid & Infection culture.
Conduct activities and interactions consistent with Company values and in compliance with the Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards relevant to your role and reports potential issues of non-compliance.
Ensures and monitors compliance by team members and third parties by (a) positively reinforcing the Code of Conduct and all relevant AstraZeneca Policies and Standards, (b) ensuring completion of all required training, (c) fostering a culture of openness in which employees are comfortable raising questions or concerns, and (d) immediately addressing and reporting, as appropriate, instances of non-compliance

Essential for the role
Bachelor's degree in science or business.
Experience in pharmaceutical industry including functions outside medical, e.g. marketing, commercial roles or financial roles.
Comprehensive understanding of the development and commercialisation of pharmaceutical products.
Experience of successful influencing cross functionally, cross-culturally and cross-brands within multi-cultural and multi-location teams.
Must be able to form strong partnerships and develop a trusted advisory relationship with all members of the Medical leadership team while being knowledgeable about the organisation, how it operates, and the interrelationships of the various functions.
Ability to effectively drive results in a dynamic environment with a high degree of organisational change, growth and ambiguities.
Strong project management skills; ability to establish strategic direction for cross-functional project teams.
Strong facilitation, mediation, organisational and meeting management skills
Desirable for the role
Graduate level degree in sciences, business degree or MD.
Previous experience in Global Medical Affairs or local/regional Medical Affairs.
