Our location in Lake Forest, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer. This position is onsite in Lake forest.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a technical role with the candidate expected to be a contributor to building compelling informatics products within Abbott’s Diagnostics Division. The individual will participate in the development and deployment of system and software architecture to support informatics development programs. She/he will also be responsible for supporting on-market products post-launch. The individual is responsible for facilitating continuous integration and continuous delivery of informatics products using the cutting-edge development operations (DevOps) tools and technologies.
Core Job Responsibilities:
The individual will be responsible for automating Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) and software packages ready for continuous Deployment (CD).
Understand the current needs for automating builds and automate using Jenkins, Bitbucket, Docker and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform).
Create and maintain the development and deployment infrastructure for AWS Cloud Environments and On-Premise environments. She/he will be responsible for helping create and maintaining documentation for DevOps processes, tools, and their usage.
The individual will be responsible for root cause analysis including troubleshooting of build and deployment related issues.
The individual will work as part of cross-functional teams to deliver informatics products.
An individual contributor in this position may travel occasionally within the U.S or abroad as required per project assignment.
Position Accountability / Scope
The individual is responsible for helping in the design, development and commercialization of informatics products in compliance with internal policies and procedures, both US and Foreign regulatory standards and requirements.
She/he is accountable for the development, operation and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for projects under development and maintenance.
She/he is accountable for the configuration management of informatics programs and on-market products, documentation for the artifacts created during the various DevOps phases, and baselining software for various releases.
She/he will own the Build and Release Management, CI/CD Pipelines, Cloud based deployments for containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes etc.) for informatics products.
The individual is accountable for helping ensure the availability and reliability of development and collaboration tools and technologies.
Associates Degree and a minimum 7 years’ experience
B.S. in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline including Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
M.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
6+ years of experience covering the entire software lifecycle (requirements definition through verification) in a team environment.
Possess good oral and written communication skills.
Experience operating in Scrum-based development teams.
Proven experience in configuration management (Bitbucket, JFrog Artifactory etc.), continuous integration, and continuous deployment, preferably in Jenkins (or other CI/CD Tools).
Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux & Windows systems and internals.
Programming skills using shell scripting is required. Programming skills in one of Python, Golang or Nodejs is desired.
Proven experience in DevOps automation tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible etc.
Strong experience in container management technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, LinuxKit) and management of containerized workloads.
Experience developing or working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required. AWS Certification and/or Kubernetes certification is preferred.
The candidate must have basic knowledge in installing, configuring, and maintaining DevOps tools and technologies such as Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins and Artifactory.
