What You Will Achieve
You will play a critical part in managing the maintenance and reliability activities involving the maintenance and repair of utility systems, buildings, and production/laboratory equipment. As a Team leader, you will lead work teams within your division, including the technical and financial resources of the team. You will use your experience and technical skills to coach your direct reports on day to day activities. You will be relied on to solve complex problems within your area of expertise. How You Will Achieve It
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for leading Maintenance Colleagues to assist Operations and Quality in achieving targets through the execution of routine maintenance, calibration of equipment, and corrective work.
Manages work completed by staff, in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), established SOPs, and environmental and safety regulations.
Monitors and assigns work orders and ensures proper documentation and timely closure.
Serves as administrator and SME for site computerized maintenance management system. Responsible for entering new equipment, managing changes, and all other aspects of system maintenance.
Leads Engineering Tier 1 Process Centric Team (PCT) to monitor and act on key metrics, execute standard work, and drive continuous improvement.
Leads long-range maintenance planning and performance improvement.
Collaborates cross-functionally with Quality and Operations, to ensure information is properly shared and production remains on schedule.
Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to compliance, safety, and production to minimize risk, ensure product quality and reduce waste through the application of tools related to LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma such as OpEx and IMEx principles.
Ensures maintenance of all equipment and facilities, mitigating downtime and providing emergency breakdown repair service as required.
Manages maintenance operational expenses within budget and looks for opportunities to reduce expenses.
Provides technical input and assistance with coordination and escorting of outside vendors and contractors.
Actively engages in colleague development, including timely performance feedback/appraisals.
Ensures colleagues are trained and performing role efficiently within the appropriate procedures, specifications, and standards.
Schedules staffing, communicating with and recommending actions to leadership as needed.
Supports regulatory and customer audit tours. Leads quality, environmental, and safety incident investigations as required. Implements corrective and preventative actions.
Champions a safety culture ensuring team is adhering to safety requirements and reports events and near misses.
Uses lean tools to manage critical spare parts inventory ensuring critical spares are identified, sorted, stored, and replacements are ordered when parts are removed.
Timely review of maintenance, safety, and GMP documentation including logs, safety permits, calibration records and responsible for maintaining organized storage of files.
Assists Site Services Leader with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education and prior Engineering or Maintenance experience required for this role. Prior experience to include providing maintenance support to manufacturing/quality processes as well as maintaining utility systems. Experience in troubleshooting, resolution of system issues, and performing PMs/implementing corrective solutions to ensure robust and reliable operations. Qualifying Military experience may also be considered in lieu of industrial experience. Specifics as follows:
Bachelor’s or Associate's degree with a minimum of 5+ years prior Engineering or Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
Able to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
Intermediate computer skills with use of programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience in cGMP/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environment
Six Sigma Certification
Able to stand and frequently walk between areas to supervise and support activities.
Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, carrying and/or lifting to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
This position is required to wear personal protective equipment in certain areas.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Work schedule is day shift, Monday - Friday.
The work environment ranges from office, to plant, to maintenance shop.
Personal Protective Equipment applicable to the task and must be always worn.
Work outside of normal hours may be required on an infrequent basis to support planned shutdowns or significant production interruptions.
