The Senior Director, Digital Innovation will report into the VP of Digital Innovation and will be accountable in the delivery of critical insight, implications, and definition of Digital growth opportunity areas.

This is a high impact role, and you’ll be working closely with external start-ups (VCs, incubators), partners (e.g., Microsoft, Google, Accenture) and internally with senior stakeholders to determine how GSK can capitalize on prioritized digital opportunity areas.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Lead the delivery of critical insight, implications for GSK and defining value opportunities working directly with senior/executive GSK leaders and the external ecosystem of VC/Start up’s, advisories, and academics with a focus on innovative technology platforms, data, analytics and digital products
  • Conduct in-depth landscape analyses in Macro and Micro trends and potential disruption to GSK. Participating in industry, VC, academic and technical conferences to promote GSK as the partner of the choice. Align search priorities to reflect prioritized business priorities and technology strategies/roadmaps
  • Brings, establishes, and cultivates a broad network of internal and external partners with digital, data and analytics technology expertise including academia, venture capital firms and biotech industry globally and maintains a high level of external visibility.
  • Working closely with the business, framing problem statements and the associated business value, and draw on a deep understanding of the key trends shaping biopharmaceutical, research, manufacture and commercialization
  • Advancing the development of new and ongoing strategic partnerships, including scouting for and evaluating potential partners (e.g. technology start-ups), developing relationships
  • Produce high-quality written presentations/discussion materials (e.g. landscape assessment, consumer journey mapping, business case development) in support of the responsibilities defined above
  • Building a strong network within GSK and working closely with business and Tech teams to ensure an in-depth understanding of GSK business needs and priorities.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree (science, business, technology)
  • 12+ years’ experience with consulting or tech/ software development (e.g., Digital Health, Data, Analytics, AI, Machine Learning)
  • Direct experience in start-up or launching digital products into the market
  • Direct experience in investment proposal or business case writing

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Post graduate degree in business, technology
  • Pharmaceutical or Healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in presenting to and interacting with executive management; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a fluid organization.
  • A natural skill to engage with people at a deep level whether observing or interviewing customers or working with fellow team members and clients.
  • A passion for representing the human perspective in design and skills in bringing this passion to life for the team.
  • A high level of attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • A visual and verbal storyteller, delivering insights about future technology trends, signals and detailed analysis of disruption potential and value growth opportunities for GSK.
  • Good understanding of the Tech and Venture landscape; knowledge of and curiosity about emerging trends and technologies.
