Head of Vivarium Operations, Comparative Medicine (341713BR)

The Head of Vivarium Operations, CM will support the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) Comparative Medicine (CM) organization by directing a high quality vivarium operation (VO) program and facilities that are in compliance with local regulations and AAALAC
International guidelines.

In this role, you will proactively resource and metric animal care and study support through partnerships with the Disease Areas (DAs) and CM Study Support group. You will ensure facility space, equipment and associated resources are efficiently deployed with rapidly changing
vivarium/research needs.

Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:

•Ensure maintenance & future development of Vivarium Operations (VO) programs to continually align service portfolio to meet needs of evolving in vivo research community.
•Continually evolve the campus vivarium to meet changing research needs (strategic vision
and execution of animal facilities design, infrastructure and renovations).
•Ensure VO alignment with other core CM services (Veterinary Services & Technical Services) and Scientific Operations.

•Ensure that the care and welfare of laboratory animals is provided in accordance with local regulations, federal and state laws and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals,
Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.
•Provide leadership to the Vivarium Operations (VO) group to maximize the contribution of the technical staff to the animal care program and to meet CM’s strategic objectives on culture and colleague development.
•Manage talent through focused colleague career development and performance management.
•As a member of the site CM leadership team, play a key role in building and executing a comprehensive strategy for CM, and partner with all groups in CM to optimize
cross-line operational efficiency and set staff project priorities to improve productivity.
