Director, Global HCP Payment Transparency (4844628_New_York_City)

This role will manage and support transformation activities of the Global Payment Transparency Team to enable Pfizer to meet its disclosure obligations (e.g. Sunshine Act/State Law/EFPIA) and build a payment data analytics competency within the organization. The Transparency team is responsible for payment disclosure initiatives in the Americas (including Canada, the US, and Latin America), Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. The global transparency landscape’s disclosure requirements are constantly evolving with both legislative and voluntary commitments, which need to be interpreted and operationalized. The team leads the Global Transparency Community of Practice, leading the efforts to build a global transparency solution platform, and is continuing to support newly evolving transparency initiatives.

The Director is responsible for directing integration activities resulting from business acquisitions, evolving the global transparency footprint and to oversee all change management activities. The Director will also contribute to the strategy and execution of “Unlocking the Value” of both Pfizer’s internal and competitor payment transparency data to provide value-added analytics and insights to business stakeholder. This initiative will allow Pfizer for the first time to use this expansive data set (normalized and combined with other data sets) to answer business questions for senior leaders, mitigate potential compliance risks, and provide insights that will impact the business. Additionally, the Director will steer new or evolving policy and monitoring activities related to transparency practices to create best-in-class operations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee aggregate spend integration activities resulting from new business/asset acquisitions, including handling of integration issues, risks and deadlines. Develop and maintain an integration playbook.
  • Partner with Digital and contribute to the governance and evolution of the global transparency system. Lead system development initiatives and enhancement discussions to set the direction for Pfizer systems that impact publicly disclosed payment information globally.
  • Shape the strategy and execution of Unlocking the Value of transparency data. Identify and partner with stakeholders across the organization to determine the type of analyses and insights that can be harvested from the expansive set of payment data. Operationalize these analyses through a common shared platform, including the development of executive dashboards, standard reports and ad-hoc analyses as needed, and participate in the shaping of the governance model.
  • Lead / participate in policy meetings and monitoring activities as appropriate. Assess potential impact of proposed regulations to overall processes.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise acting as subject matter expert for payment disclosure.
  • Develop and implement working practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in periodic audits and inspections by internal audit or external regulators. Remediate complex issues resulting from audit findings or compliance related matters.
  • Represent Pfizer at industry conferences and / or professional organizations to help influence future disclosure policies.
  • Lead and /or coach continuous improvement projects focusing on optimizing systems and processes to improve data capture and the integrity of the data.
  • Manage complex projects, including projects where data may be decentralized.
  • Ensure that the Global SOP is kept current and training is adhered to annually.


  • Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of relevant experience required
  • MBA or advanced degree and 12+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Professional experience in finance, accounting, or management information systems experience a plus
  • 5 years of relevant experience in HCP Payment Transparency initiatives including the understanding of HCP Payment Disclosure policies, Affordable Care Act Sunshine provisions, EFPIA Disclosure Code and Financial Disclosure reporting requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Previous continuous improvement and complex project management experience
  • Demonstrated team player, leadership and management skills
  • Experience working in cross-functional and matrix teams
  • Knowledge of Pfizer financial reporting and project management systems preferred
  • Strong technical skills and adeptness at the use of computer based tools and systems, including experience/ knowledge of user query tools underlying financial & reporting systems, database tools, and technologies that can support HCP payment disclosure
  • Ability to adequately evaluate and leveragePfizer’s systems into business processes in order to support business requirements
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to respond to multiple internal and external stakeholders

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to Head, Global Data Dissemination and Transparency
  • Partners with Digital Technology, Americas Transparency Team, and EU/ME/AP Disclosure Team to ensure systems evolve to meet transparency requirements.
  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders across Pfizer including Legal, Compliance, Communications, Media, Government Affairs, Digital Technology, Business Units, and other teams in WMS.
