MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

Leads management of inventory and purchasing of raw materials, sub-assemblies, products and services in conformance with approved purchase orders at the lowest cost consistent with considerations for quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Provides support for all basic aspects of purchasing including but not limited to demand and supply analysis, demand forecasting, utilization of the purchasing system, safety stock management, expedition of orders and vendor relations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Plans and schedules deliveries to optimize inventories in support of holding level strategies and business demands by working with forecasting data/teams, planning teams, commodity teams and shipping/receiving teams.

  • Executes to MRP/ERP, purchasing, planning, inventory management and production principles defined by site strategy. Manages material requirements planning parameters and safety stock for operational components within SAP system.

  • Demonstrate the following qualities in day to day activity: motivated self-starter, problem solver, team player, strong written and verbal communication skills, organized and able to meet deadlines.

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office demonstrating ability to analyze, plan, and execute to planning scenarios.

  • Detail oriented with ability to process error free purchasing transactions, metric reporting, etc.

  • Monitors supplier performance, communicates and takes action to maintain high levels of supplier performance. Meet with vendors as needed to gain supply status updates for on time delivery performance while developing relationships to anticipate any potential delays.

  • Partners with peer groups to manage and align initiatives. Confronts and resolves issues/opportunities in a constructive and timely manner.

  • Participates in special projects as requested to reduce cost, increase efficiency, etc.

  • May processes some or all of the following: rejected components/corrective action, returns, debit memos, etc.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • 1-3 years experience in a purchasing or other Supply Chain support role.

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred. CPM designation with the NAPM (or similar), or a CPIM designation with APICS (or similar) are preferred.

  • These minimum requirements are necessary because the candidate will be working independently and with minimum supervision, and must understand basic purchasing and material planning functions.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills to work with suppliers and customers in a polite and tactful, yet firm manner.

  • Must have good organizational skills, experience with computerized ERP systems, and experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs.

  • Must be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment to support internal and external customers
