Job Description
The VP, Public Affairs leads the public affairs advocacy efforts for CVS Health, working at the intersection of government affairs, communications and marketing in a cross-functional role focused on our communication and overall reputation with public policymakers and the influencers around them. The VP, Public Affairs is a key collaborator who engages across every business unit on a wide range of public policy and social issues and is a part of Government Affairs senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Provides effective messaging and strategic advice in support of Government Affairs advocacy efforts.
• Leads the public affairs efforts on key state and federal advocacy campaigns including coordinating on messaging with lobbying teams, internal communications partners and outside consultants.
• Manages the development and implementation of messaging, including working with the Policy team on research projects, stake holder group engagement, employee advocacy, and other efforts in support of state and federal legislative advocacy.
• Regularly interacts with corporate communications and provides the Government Affairs team with information and messaging on key company announcements and activities
• Coordinates the communications strategy of trade associations and coalitions on behalf of the company
• Manages and creates internal communications about government affairs activity to educate colleagues across the company
• Coordinates government affairs input into key communications activity
• Oversees strategic reputational messaging and advertising to support Government Affairs objectives
• Manages key executive public presentations on public policy issues

Required Qualifications
• 12+ years of public affairs experience, with a rich understanding of how to leverage public affairs to move an advocacy agenda
• Must be a team player who can work under pressure and in fast-moving situations
• Deep familiarity and experience with the Federal and state legislative processes and understanding of the surrounding political environment
• Demonstrated ability to grasp complex policy issues and translate them into compelling written, visual and verbal communications)
• Experience managing political campaigns and/or issue coalitions helpful
• Experience with staffing senior executives or elected officials
• Experience with ad creation, media buying, and public opinion research a plus
