Our plant in Fairfield, California, currently has an opportunity for a Forklift Operator I (2nd Shift – 2pm - 10:30pm Pacific, Mondays – Fridays + Occasional Saturdays). This location is Abbott’s only manufacturing plant that makes its Zone Perfect and Glucerna nutrition bars, with 180 million bars produced annually. The Forklift Operator I receives, stores, picks, and dispenses raw materials and/or finished products. The role utilizes departmental equipment and systems (Examples: Cambar, AMAPS, MITS, etc.) The individual in this role will use Class I and Class III powered industrial equipment (Examples: Forklifts, drum haulers, electric walk behind lifts, etc.) The role is responsible for line support, receiving, loading, unloading, and case picking, while maintaining compliance to all GMP, safety and quality guidelines.

  • Coordinate timely accurate flow of materials from warehouse inventory to work-in-process/production areas

  • Coordinate timely accurate flow of finished products to support shipments to distribution centers and other destinations. Responsible for loading and unloading of material with the use of a forklift.

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system

  • Store, pick or assemble finished product for shipment using the Cambar radio frequency inventory system

  • Understand and properly utilizes ship orders, associated warehouse paperwork and RF terminals for shipping/receiving finished product

  • Maintain proper FIFO flow of finished products (may include operation of a forklift truck with a push-pull attachment)

  • Store, pick, or assemble raw materials in the warehouse, verifying the commodity number, quantity, release status and lot number

  • Check materials against packaging lists, invoices, freight bills or other pertinent documentation to assure conformity and accuracy

  • Deliver materials to production lines in a timely manner

  • Maintain proper FIFO flow of raw materials

  • Properly utilize RF terminals for receiving and movement of raw materials

  • Clean up both raw material and finished goods warehouse areas

  • Stage labels in mobile security carts for production lines

  • Maintain accurate records and reconciles inventory errors


  • The hourly pay for this position is $22.00/hour USD

  • This is a 2nd Shift position, Mondays - Fridays (2pm - 10:30PM Pacific) + occasional Saturdays


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 or more years of forklift experience

  • Able to lift and maneuver objects of considerable weight (50 lbs.)


  • Knowledge of applicable departmental equipment and systems (Examples: Cambar, AMAPS, and MITS or previous history using similar systems)

  • Proficient in the use of Class I and Class III powered industrial equipment (Examples: Forklifts, drum haulers, electric walk behind lifts, etc.)

  • Knowledge of both raw materials and finished product terminology

  • Ability to understand and completes label control portion of work order

  • Understanding of CLASS A principles and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
