Operational Excellence Specialist - $3k Sign-on Bonus

Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

The Operational Excellence (OpEx) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining components of an Operational Excellence program. The program utilizes Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvement across the site.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and lead the implementation of OpEx strategies on the manufacturing floor
  • Influence, motivate, and train others to use techniques and tools such as Standard Work, Manufacturing Operating System (MOS), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5S+, and Visual Management Control
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and coordinate actions with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish goals
  • Understand, utilize, and communicate key performance indicators and metrics to drive behavior and improvements
  • Coordinate, facilitate and manage cross functional projects within the site using Lean Six Sigma/OpEx tools and processes
  • Act as a change agent to lead team members in the engagement and sustainment of a continuous improvement culture
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert (SME) regarding OpEx elements and Continuous Improvement initiatives as it relates to projects, process changes, and other improvements
  • Partner with leaders/peers to develop business relationships that promote the efficient and effective utilization of resources to accomplish site objectives
  • Assist with the site’s Cost Improvement Program (CIP) aimed at reducing cost
  • Other departmental support duties may also be assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification


This position requires:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience using Lean/Six Sigma tools/processes or utilizing the DMAIC method to solve problems
  • Demonstrated problem solving, project management and leadership skills
  • Experience in Change Management practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, etc.)
  • A self-starter with ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and think independently
  • Awareness of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals (preferred)
  • Flexibility for occasional off-shift or weekend hours
