The SVP, Strategy and Business Excellence & Risk Management will drive Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) strategy development and orchestrate deployment with a holistic view of GPS value chain across all operating units (OpU) / products / functions in support of desired outcomes; support value delivery by establishing a global Operational Excellence (OpEx) program, a Digital & Analytics program, proactive business continuity / risk management / crisis response, PMO standards, resource prioritization for GPS-wide projects, and a GPS business development framework and presence in M&A/divestiture discussions.
The SVP, Strategy and Business Excellence & Risk Management will lead the team that develops and orchestrates execution of GPS strategy, establishes operational excellence capabilities, defines & orchestrates GPS digital roadmap, leads business continuity / risk management / crises readiness/response, sets PMO standards, drives resource prioritization, and supports business development activity by enabling the team to:
Understand current and forward-looking requirements and constraints from the enterprise, e.g. from commercial, R&ED, GDD, enabling function leadership
Develop GPS-wide Strategy, Operational Excellence & Digital roadmap; communicate and align objectives, governance, and processes across GPS where needed to aggregate across OpU & functions
Own/facilitate GPS-wide processes to develop/implement network strategy (with PD/OpU partners), business continuity planning, and LTFP planning (with Finance)
Build and apply an operations risk management framework for GPS, identifying and mitigating risks to security, network, supply, and quality, etc. (in collaboration with SPLs for product risk); create capability to swiftly and appropriately respond to crises
Develop central operational excellence (OpEx) capabilities to enable strategy and value realization; coach, train, and support GPS leadership and on-site resources to achieve defined objectives
Establish a program management office (PMO) and ensure prioritized resourcing
Support business development activities by creating a GPS business development framework and representing GPS in M&A/divestiture discussions, as directed by BMS strategy group
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (advanced degree strongly preferred)
A minimum of 15 years of deep expertise and proficiency in pharmaceutical manufacturing experience
Proven track record in delivering business outcomes through operational excellence
Proven track record in delivering business outcomes leveraging Digital & Analytics
Business acumen with experience in business development
Strategic thinker with an executive mindset
Strong financial, strategic planning and business planning skills required
Experienced in leading change with significant process content including cross functional team work
Demonstrated ability to accomplish results and meet deadlines and commitments
Excellent conflict management and negotiation skills
Demonstrated analytical and logical skills with a focus on fact-based decision making.
Possess a clear vision of project/program direction and ability to communicate this vision; instills a sense of project ownership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possess strong interpersonal communications skills and shares critical information with project team and senior leaders
