As part of the BMS NextGen 2040 Sustainability Goals this position will assist the BMS EOHSS team with progressing waste management and reduction programs around our zero waste to landfill goal, pollution prevention and waste minimization efforts, disposal vendor audits, providing site assistance with waste management programs and strategy, and assisting with site composting efforts. This position will work closely with our international locations and with the respective site EHS teams to further develop and execute waste management and reduction programs. This full-time co-op opportunity will be from Monday, January 9 - Friday, June 23, 2023.
Assist sites with identifying waste diversion and waste reduction opportunities to support our Zero Waste to Landfill goal,
Work with our disposal vendors and our Integrated Facility Management team to align on waste disposal pathways for our network sites to support our Zero Waste to Landfill goal,
Provide support and guidance to sites for pollution prevention and waste minimization opportunities,
Identification of waste disposal requirements around the network in the countries we do business in,
Assist with the development and execution of composting efforts across the network, and
Assist with the development of an improved environmental metrics reporting platform.
Qualifications & Experience
Undergraduate student (junior or senior) majoring in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability, or pursuing an Environmental Engineering degree with a minor in Sustainability with an emphasis or interest in waste management.
A Graduate student majoring in sustainability around waste management and waste reduction.
Good communication and computer skills (Excel, other) are required.
