Clinical Trial Business Partnerships (CTBP) focuses on executing the business’ sourcing strategy across all phases of R&D development operations. The team applies a common framework to drive efficient, consistent and compliant processes for vendor relationship and management of BMS’ major clinical service providers.

The Outsourcing Management team functions as a bridge between BMS’s operations and their vendor partners. Outsourcing Management works with BMS operations to define the scope and needs of new and ongoing clinical trials and engages with BMS vendors to put contracts in place in a timely manner allowing BMS study teams to achieve critical study timelines. Outsourcing Management also play a key role in vendor management driving accountability and advocacy across BMS and vendor partnerships.

This position reports to the Associate Director, Outsourcing Management or designee. As an integral member of CTBP, the Senior Manager, Outsourcing Management is a seasoned team member who serves as the process gatekeeper and expert related to outsourcing processes. The Senior Manager, Outsourcing Management is responsible for efficiently and independently performing the duties and responsibilities for this role as outlined below.

  • Maintain study/program level responsibility for complex/high profile studies with full accountability of contract and vendor management, including negotiation of strategic-level synergies

  • Support initiatives and work collaboratively with tangential organizations on contract execution & continuous improvement processes

  • Serve as a consultative partner and subject matter expert to internal/external stakeholders

  • Provide operational expertise and strategic leadership, support, guidance and training to teams on all aspects of outsourced work

  • Ensure alignment of teams to the related Bristol Myers Squibb outsourcing strategies

  • Drive outsourcing activities by interfacing with operational teams, support groups and service providers for successful selection, contracting, and execution of outsourced studies while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, ethical practices, and corporate outsourcing and procurement policies and procedures

  • Delegate and provide direction to supporting resources; may include line management responsibilities

Degree Requirement

Bachelor Degree in Legal, Life science, Business Administration or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Clinical development experience of 4 to 6 years required, including experience with initiating, negotiating and executing legal and/or financial agreements with clinical service providers

  • Demonstrated competencies in coaching and developing others

  • Ability to sustain high level of performance in a constantly changing environment

  • Proven experience in managing key internal and external stakeholders effectively by frequently soliciting input and gathering and incorporating feedback into processes as appropriate

  • Effective management of cross-functional, multi-cultural teams and demonstrated ability to work and influence within a matrix structure

  • Proven time management skills and ability to be flexible to meet job demands and take on new initiatives and improvement efforts
