Senior Scientist, Oncology Target Discovery
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated scientist with a strong background in Oncology target identification and validation to join a cross-functional team within Discovery Oncology. The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative and collaborative research demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications. Primary responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments in the laboratory to identify and validate novel targets, focusing on scientific areas where we have asymmetric advantages to deliver novel targets into the early discovery pipeline. The Senior Scientist will operate in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment, and an ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines will be essential.
In this exciting role, you will:
Design, conduct, interpret, and communicate experiments to identify and validate novel targets in Oncology
Develop new methods using CRISPR technology to enable the broad use of genetic screening and validation
Monitor, review, and critically interpret published work to guide internal research, particularly pertaining to new methods for genetic perturbation
Collaborate with colleagues in cross-functional teams from Discovery Oncology, in vivo Pharmacology, Genome and Biomarker Sciences, Chemical Biology, and Quantitative Biosciences to develop and integrate enabling technology to identify and validate novel targets
Required Experience and Skills:
Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology or related field
Background in cancer biology
Demonstrated expertise in functional genomics
Expertise in standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, qRT-PCR, and western blotting
Expertise in multiple methods of genetic perturbation (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR using lentivirus and RNPs, inducible systems)
Experience with model and assay development
Experience with cloning and lentivirus generation; overexpression of wildtype and mutant constructs
Experience with assessment of CRISPR editing efficiency using Sanger sequencing or Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
Demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps
Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a team environment
Proven record of innovative thinking to propose and champion new ideas and solve problems
