Position Description:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:


Under the director of supervision:

  • Independently checks all incoming and outgoing materials, including samples, supplies, finished goods, components, chemicals, and other materials.
  • Performs all material handling duties in the receiving, storing, and movement of these materials.
  • Complies will all aspects of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the highest level of quality and customer service.
  • Ensures the security and the safety of all inbound and outbound shipments complying with company Standards of Care Policy.


Powered Industrial Vehicles, including Fork Lift Trucks, power-scrubber sweeper, electric pallet jacks, Walker and rider-type lift trucks, two and four-wheel hand trucks, Tractor Train Tugger, Turret Trucks, narrow aisle wire guided fork lifts (sidewinders), computer systems and software upgrades, roll clamp truck and scanner, Radio Frequency Units (RFU's), Drum Lifters/Transfers (manual and automated/semi-automated and/or vacuum oriented), Shrink Wrappers, Automation equipment (Cranes, Self Guided Vehicles (SGV's), Conveyors, and equipment directly related to the use of conveyors.


  • Complies with Quality, Safety, cGMP's, SOP's, Foreign Trade Zone Requirements, MSDS, DOT, IATA, NRC, and Environmental Regulations.
  • Basic proficiency in operating material handling equipment and inventory management skills.
  • Utilizes computer systems for the receipt, loading, unloading, picking, sorting, unpacking, storage, and re-palletizing of individual packages, transactions and inquiries (i.e., MRP/MRP II, MAXIMO, WMS, EZ-BUY, SCL Tracking, our Company's Core Applications, SAP, Other Systems where required.).
  • Confirms and adheres to special temperature needs specified on product/package labels and special handling instructions for hazardous materials during picking, receipt, storage and shipping.
  • Independently manages inventory, processes order and corrects discrepancies where authorized.
  • Assigns tracking numbers to incoming materials as required and applies identification labels as needed.
  • Performs and/or assists in new Material Associates training.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in conduct of job assignments. Adheres to published general plant rules and regulations.
  • Performs operator maintenance for automatic warehouse equipment, vehicles, and conveyors.
  • Follows site-services waste management guidelines to assure discard and recycling requirements are upheld.
  • Ensures the highest level of safety and cGMP's through coordinated housekeeping duties, including emptying trash, discarding pallets, moving dumpsters to appropriate locations, and running power sweeper/scrubber where applicable.
  • Complete all training in appropriate job related processes during defined training period.
  • Attends and actively participates in HAZOPS, waste walkthroughs, kaizen events, or any other operations, lean six-sigma, quality, safety or environmental training/initiatives as required.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience and Skills:

  • One-year previous warehouse experience
  • Ability to calculate accountabilities, total costs, cost per unit, convert from US customary units of measure to metric units;
  • Moderate to advanced Computer skills.
  • Powered Industrial Vehicles as defined in the equipment sections of this document.
  • Hazmat training
  • Computer skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • One-year previous experience operating a fork truck , Waste Disposal, Inventory Management and Materials Control experience.
  • SAP experience.

Special Skills or Abilities:

  • Ability to work on computer systems, working knowledge of basic arithmetic.

Special Job Features:

  • Frequent bending and heavy lifting, where applicable.
  • Required to work in hot and/or refrigerated and below freezing conditions as well as high voltage areas on occasion, where applicable.
  • May come in contact with hazardous/chemical and radioactive materials.
  • This position requires strong work ethic and the ability to work independent of supervision and/or Material Associate Level II.
