Position Overview

This individual will be responsible for daily duties and activities related to shipping and receiving. This person will report to the Group Leader of the area and will also interface with Production areas, Customer Service, Materials personnel, Quality department, and outside carriers to help ensure that everything is processed on schedule to meet customer demand. The standard shipping/receiving hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday or 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday (rotating schedule).

Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.
-Opens/inspects incoming shipments, confirms that product quality and quantity acceptable and accurate.
-Unloads freight carriers and signs freight bills of lading.
-Delivers product to the proper inventory location, department or personnel.
-Works with Purchasing or vendors to resolve product concerns.
-Coordinates large freight deliveries and large outgoing freight shipments to the correct delivery or shipping destinations.
-Package product in an efficient manner so that damage doesn’t occur during shipment
-Ensure incoming parts are received in a timely and organized matter.
-Pack outgoing shipments in a manner that prevents damage during transit.
-Make sure outgoing shipments are packed and processed in a timely and organized matter.
-Ensure customer order, product, and quantities match.
-Contact common carriers and schedule pick-ups accordingly to meet customer delivery requirements.
-Coordinate Loading of trucks with outgoing products.
-Complete and maintain all required paperwork.
-Work with other departments when discrepancies are found related to materials and/or product.
-Maintain 5S standards along with Lean Manufacturing process improvement sustainment within the department.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

Qualifications:
-High School education or equivalent required
-Shipping/Receiving experience desired
-Ability to read and interpret a variety of shipping/receiving related documents
-Experience with measurement equipment preferred
-Forklift certification will be required
-Must be able to read/write in English fluently
-Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and management
-Basic math skills required
-Strong attention to detail, efficiency, and accuracy
-Ability to Multi-task
-Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and work well with others
-Ability to work with a diverse group of employees
-Capability to exercise independent judgment
-Ability to adapt to changing conditions, demands, & priorities
-SAP or equivalent business system software experience desired
-Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) preferred

Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
-Occasional lifting required (up to 50 lbs); anything over 50 lbs should be assisted
-Must be able to work overtime as schedule dictates
-Attendance and performance records will be evaluated
