Job Description

Position Summary: This is a key leadership role that focuses on providing influence across the organization to raise levels of data literacy, growing data-driven capabilities, and supporting the strategic business agenda. This role also assumes even more importance given the recent establishment of our DBA (Digital Business Acceleration) efforts and priorities given the key role Data plays in supporting our digital ambitions and capabilities.

This role is critical in the company’s digital transformation initiatives and works across the following key pillars:
  • Shepherding the data and analytics strategy

  • Accelerating value created through Data.

  • Accountable and responsible for unlocking and enhancing the value of the company’s information assets. Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities.
  • Partner across the IT leadership team and the broader functional LT’s and divisional LT’s to scan the horizon for emerging management tools, skills, techniques and technologies. Work together to ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage and to minimize duplication.
  • Champion process optimization, standardization and improvement initiatives in data standards, data quality, data management, analytics governance and internal controls.
  • Establish a vision for managing data as a business asset. Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics.
  • Define data and analytics strategy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the company’s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with executive business and information technology leadership.
  • Oversee the integration and staging of data, in connection with the development, deployment and maintenance of the company’s data and analytics platform(s).
  • Create a data-driven culture, building related competencies and data literacy across the company.
  • Lead a centralized service for sourcing external data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability and cost-effectiveness. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
  • Oversee compliance efforts related to data and analytics assets:
    • Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data and analytics that serve as the source material for regulatory reports
    • Ensure that the data used for financial reporting and to support legal requirements is valid, reliable, traceable, timely, available, secure and consistent
    • Collaborate with the chief information security officer and privacy function to create policies and controls for the appropriate protection of information assets
  • Build and support a data and analytics governance council to provide sponsorship for and oversight of governance policy creation and compliance.
  • Define, manage and ensure an adequate information quality model, and controls for master data and metadata management, including reference data.
  • Measure master data and reference data for compliance to policy and standards. Assure the deployment and management of data quality monitoring practices.
  • Develop, manage and govern the annual budget for the Data & Analytics team, as part of the larger IT organization and across the company.
  • Define, manage and execute the end to end master data processes in the company including vendors, customers, products, pricing, legal entities, plants, hierarchies and other relevant master data to accelerate our company speed to market in key processes (eg, 3 Tier eCommerce, DTC, New Product Development and others).

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field. Academic qualification or professional training experience in legal and regulatory areas are also desirable.
  • Fifteen or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, financial or information or IT management. Broad business experience internally and within the vertical industry is desired.
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists.
  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
