CNC Equipment Technician

Walpole, MA

As an Equipment Technician you will evaluate and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant and production tools, equipment and fixtures related to multi-axis milling machines, production and facilities assets. It will be your responsibility to understand the concept and operation of CNC Controllers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and with appropriate training, able to troubleshoot and maintain them. You will also be responsible to perform troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Read and interpret machinery and component mechanical drawings, circuit diagrams & schematics, maintenance manuals, and parts catalogs to enable maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Identify root cause of equipment related issues, research and recommend improvements to production equipment and supporting maintenance program.
  • Perform basic oversight of equipment OEM engineers/technicians and outside contractors in defined scopes of work to ensure compliance with site policies and Inspects the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds
  • Report machine condition and maintenance information and coordinate plan with site Facility Manager to restore equipment performance to standard.
  • Ability to lift components weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and the ability to safely use overhead cranes, forklifts, and various equipment movers. Training will be provided.
  • Operate a forklift/man-lift/scissors lift/articulated boom and able to work from elevated work platforms
  • May be required to be available 'out of hours', flexibility across shifts, sites and businesses may be required to suit business needs.

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Technical field and 3 plus years’ experience in a manufacturing environment OR
  • In lieu of a degree 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles and operation.
  • Experience supporting CNC controls and a CNC machine/tool
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security clearance, which requires US Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:

  • High understanding of electrical, electronic systems, computer numerical control systems and a knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with Operation and Troubleshooting of Siemens (840C, D, Operate) & Fanuc controls
  • Field Service technician experience
  • Understanding of local and regional HSE standards and regulations
