We are seeking applicants for a Senior Accountant in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is one of two White Paper Mills owned by Packaging Corporation of America.
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing the basic accounting functions of the mill, as well as conducting budget, financial, and production analyses.
·Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including the preparation of estimates and accruals.
·Ensure accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
·Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
·Participate in internal/external audits & implement recommended changes.
·Prepare other analyses as requested by mill, division, and corporate management.
·Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
·Comply with financial policies and procedures including compliance with PCA’s SOX 404 Key Controls.
·Provide information that will help the mill increase revenue and improve profitability.
·Respond to specific requests from management team.
·Assist in the development and installation of accounting systems, methods, procedures, and controls.
·Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, share information that would benefit other members of the team, and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
Internally, the Senior Accountant must develop effective working relationships with mill management and employees as well as corporate accounting. Externally, the Senior Accountant may work directly with vendors and customers.
·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
·CPA or CMA is a plus.
·3-5 years of work experience in a business office/accounting function.
·Broad understanding of accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices.
·Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.
·Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
·Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
·Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
·Ability to exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational, computer, and advocacy skills.
·Strong planning and follow up skills.
Previous work experience as a member of a team, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing between team members.
