About Your Role ( The Fun Stuff)

As a Design Research Lead, you will lead research for a portfolio of custom experiences in creation for the collection, exploration, and storytelling of data. We design through deep, systematic thought based on fact, finding harmony between form and function. We design rapidly, we must research and iterate just as rapidly. To support this, you'll employ ideative, quantitative and qualitative techniques including workshops, studies, and research programs. You'll use your deep knowledge of the UX research process, in collaboration with design and product team members, to iterate and test multiple solutions and deliver consumer quality experiences vetted with real data. As the biggest player in the game, we trust our associates to innovate the future of retail data. About Data Ventures ( this is YOUR Team):

Data Ventures exists to unlock the full value of Walmart's data by developing and productizing B2B data initiatives that empower merchants and suppliers to make better, faster decisions for the business. As part of this transformation, we're seeking entrepreneurial individuals to help drive data productization from concept to deployment. We are driving product vision and looking to create a commercial platform that we can replicate.

You will be responsible for ( Heres where your expertise comes in ):

  • Exploratory/Discovery Research
  • Synthesis and Ideation (in partnership with Prod/ENG/Design)
  • Mentoring Design and Product team members in User Experience research methodologies and principles to integrate into product creation
  • Driving portfolio-wide research programs by understanding business objectives and analyzing customer needs;
  • developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing user research strategies, plans, and practices;
  • determining and supporting resource requirements


Preferred Requirements:

  • Masters in field/5+years
  • Some management experience

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor Degree and 5 years design research experience OR Masters Degree and 4 years design research experience OR PhD and 2 years design research experience OR 9 years design research experience.
Experience conducting quantitative on-line research projects with systems (for example, UserZoom).
